     Summer Time Fun for Kids...

The Summer Reading Club promotes the fun of reading to young Canadians and encourages them to visit their library during the summer months. Each year, the Library hosts the Club for children and teens. The program is sponsored throughout Canada by the TD Financial Group. In North Grenville we are also sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Splash! Celebrate Summer 2011
Lively scenes of children playing in and around water are brought to mind with this year's theme Splash! Celebrate Summer. Building sandcastles at the seashore, fishing off the end of a dock, setting off in a canoe or just splashing around in a local pool are all part of the fun this summer.

Club Details
The Summer Reading Club has a simple, recreational and creative approach that offers children a structured reading environment and rewards their personal achievements. The program fosters the development of the reading habit and helps students retain what they have learned in school.

Many studies show that children who do not read during the summer find themselves at risk of falling behind once school begins again. By reading for fun through the summer months, children return to school having maintained or improved their reading skills. If your child doesn't already read for pleasure, this is the perfect time to remind the whole family that reading can be fun.
