Register for the Summer Reading Club

Registration for the Summer Reading Club is two-fold. Read the information below carefully:

1. Joining The Club
You can join the Summer Reading Club at any of our four branches. Upon joining you will receive a free poster, activity book, reading log and stickers as well as an information sheet for the program. These kits are limited, however, and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. It is best to join as early as possible.

2. Registering for Summer Reading Age-Specific Programs
In addition to the general club stuff, kids can register for a variety of programs being offered throughout the months of July and August! You must attend our registration day to register for these programs.

Registration Day for these programs is scheduled for June 29th from 6:30-8 pm and on June 30th from 9:30-11 am at our South Gower Branch.

When you register for these programs you can also join the general Summer Reading Club and recieve your free reading kit! Many of our programs have a limited number of available seats. If you miss the registration day, it is more than likely that all of the available seats will be accounted for. Seats are not guaranteed! However, you can always try and register late. Placement will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Some programs are available for all children and do not require registration. Check our brochure for more details.

About the Summer Reading Club

Are you looking for interesting and stimulating activities to occupy your children during summer vacation? Would you like them to benefit from a program that will maintain and develop their reading skills? How about a fun-filled environment where your children can participate and meet new friends? All you need to do is register your children for the TD Summer Reading Club at your local library.

The TD SRC promotes the fun of reading to young Canadians and encourages them to visit their library during the summer months. The program has a simple, recreational and creative approach that offers children a structured reading environment and rewards their personal achievements. The program fosters the development of the reading habit and helps students retain what they have learned in school. Many studies show that children who do not read during the summer find themselves at risk of falling behind once school begins again. By reading for fun through the summer months, children return to school having maintained or improved their reading skills. If your child doesn't already read for pleasure, this is the perfect time to remind the whole family that reading can be fun.

As soon as your children are registered for the Club, they will each receive a free reading kit illustrated by a well-known children's book artist. The reading kit contains one awesome poster, nine stickers, and a bilingual activity booklet that is chock-full of games and includes a log sheet for recording the books they have read.
