SELF PUBLISH 4 FREE!

The Internet has opened up a cool, new publishing industry known as Print on Demand.

How does it work?
POD Publishers will print and sell your book with no money down from you! You write it, edit it, format it and design the front/back covers. Then you transfer it to a .pdf file and upload it to the publisher's website.

After you've uploaded your book, you will need to set a retail price. The publisher will host your book on its website and print off copies only when ordered. Since they don't need to publish a large pre-order of books, you don't need to pay anything up front!

These publishing websites host FAQs and forums to answer all your questions.

What can I publish?
Novels, non-fiction books, essays, comics, calendars, poetry, cookbooks, manuals, and more...

Can I order my book for free?
No, if you want to order a copy of your book you must pay the production costs. These costs will depend on the size of the book and the number of copies you order. Prices will usually range from $5-10US for a paperback and considerably more for a hardcover.

Can other people buy my book?
Yes! You can set your book to go "live" and be searchable on the publisher's website. When someone buys the book you will make a profit? How? Well, if you set the retail price of your book at $10 and it costs $7 to produce, you will earn $3 on the sale of your book (minus a small percentage to your publisher).

However, if you order the book, you should only need to pay production costs.

How do I get started?
There are many print-on-demand companies currently operating. We have included two below. Both companies provide similar services. However, there are slight differences between them and you should read their corresponding terms of use and contracts carefully before you choose to sign up with either of them.
